Once again, UTown@UBC and the UNA are teaming up to promote safe, active and sustainable transportation in our community. So lace up your walking shoes, jump on your skateboard, bike or scooter, and Walk ‘n Roll to School May 4-8!
Parent volunteers are an important part of Walk ‘n Roll to School and the UNA and UTown@UBC are seeking volunteers to help lead walking school bus groups. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Qiuning Wang (firstname.lastname@example.org). For more information on Walk’ n Roll, including suggested routes and times, educational materials and schedules, visit www.utown.ubc.ca/walknroll.
Walking school buses, led by community volunteers will depart from select campus neighbourhoods to Norma Rose Point Elementary School and UHill Elementary in the mornings, using designated routes. Parents and students are encouraged to drop by the designated meeting spots at indicated times and walk or ride to school with friends and neighbours. Kids can collect a sticker on their Walk ‘n Roll passport each morning, for a chance to win great prizes at the end of the week, including our grand prize: a new bike! Bike safety checks, RCMP speed watch, community foot patrols, and more will take place throughout the week as well.
May is Safe + Sustainable Transportation Month at UBC, so keep an eye out for more safety and education initiatives taking place across campus. For more information, visit www.utown.ubc.ca/SSTM
We look forward to walking and rolling with you!
